Gerwyn Price was born in the small Welsh village of Markham, Caerphilly, and initially made his mark not in darts, but in rugby. From a young age he pursued the physical sport, playing as a hooker in rugby union, featuring for teams such as Neath RFC, Cross Keys RFC, and also spending a spell as injury cover with Glasgow Warriors in the Pro12. He also played rugby league with the South Wales Scorpions before ultimately leaving the sport to focus entirely on darts.
Price didn’t take darts seriously until his late 20s — initially attending PDC Qualifying School (Q‑School) in 2014 almost on a whim, encouraged by former pro Barrie Bates. What began as a casual weekend away turned into a life change when he won his Tour Card at the first attempt.
He began competing full‑time on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit that same year. Early successes included victories in Players Championship events and breaking into the PDC Order of Merit Top 32 by 2016.
Price has two daughters, and is ever thankful to his supportive partner, Bethan.
Price became the first Welshman ever to win the PDC World Championship, defeating Gary Anderson 7–3 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
Price ascended to World Number One, holding the top ranking multiple times between 2021 and 2022..
Grand Slam of Darts Champion: 2018, 2019, 2021 (three times)
World Grand Prix Winner: 2020
World Series Finals Champion: 2020, 2022
Representing Wales alongside Jonny Clayton, Price has won the PDC World Cup of Darts twice (2020, 2023).
